August Favorite's
Here are our team's August favorites, what are yours?
Emily [Talent Coordinator]
- Stone fruit: Not much to say besides the fact that cherries, plums, raspberries, and peaches...are perfect and I wish I could wake up to a basket of them on my front porch every morning.
-Pocket/purse sized items: I recently picked up a pocket-sized book from the library and it's amazing. Also a deck of cards, a small journal to doodle in or scrapbook in during downtime is a good way I try to avoid sitting on my phone instead.
Taylor [Creative Consultant]
-Wrestling boots: I've been on the hunt for the perfect pair of wrestling boots for a while now and I can feel it that August will be my time to find them. They call to me.
-Silversmithing: Who isn't enthralled with fire and metal? But really, the practice is mesmerizing and the goal is to make a few of my own silver pieces this month.
-Potato Vines: I am currently unintentionally growing four potatoes on my kitchen counter and seeing the vines creep along more and more each day has become a source of joy.
Sonary [Journalist]
-Saint Etienne's Spring: Every few years, I get really into a random band. Two years ago, it was Stereolab. This year, it's Saint Etienne, specifically their song Spring. Like the eponymous season, there's something new to love with every listen.
-The downtown Phoenix skyline from the 202 at night: Specifically after 10 PM
-The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen: Dysfunctional family + generational tensions and traumas + America at the turn of the century = An insanely good book.
Jackie [Creative Consultant]
-The contrast between the metaphysical and the biological: How to integrate both into my creative work, aurally and visually. Lately, I've especially been drawn to the idea of fascia and connective tissue as potential conduits for higher consciousness.
Esme [Founder]
-Las Culturistas podcast: Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers never fail to make a topic ten times more interesting than it actually is. I find myself laughing out loud by myself in the car on the way to work hearing about their pop culture takes.
-Saving money: I think we can all agree, a new month means a fresh start. That fresh start for me? Saving my money and being more intentional with my purchases, wish me luck!
