Where are you from? Proudly born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I spent two years in Los Angeles before moving back to Phoenix after the LA fires in January 2025. I'm very happy to be home!
Do you align with your astrological sign and what is it? I am as Virgo sun as it gets-meticulous, analytical, bold, & honest.
What sparked the interest in pottery for you? Ceramics is the one aspect of my life where I can truly let go and embrace the chaos. It allows me to practice non-attachment and relinquishing control-things I tend to struggle with in my daily life. I've spent hours on pieces that have shattered in the kiln, and all I can do is move on and continue creating. There's something incredibly grounding about holding part of the earth in your hands and transforming it into your own.
Describe your favorite piece you've ever created. My favorite piece that I've created so far is a metallic form with red, tentacle-like limbs weaving through its openings. I wanted it to feel as though it had been broken open by a foreign being, like something forced its way out. The contrast between the chrome surface and organic form makes it feel slightly unsettling and very alive.
What is your dream project? My dream project is to sculpt my own body. I want to use my hands to recreate my own form in clay. I think I'd get attached to that piece...at least a little.
Where do you see your art fitting into the world? I see my art living in the homes of people who connect with it. Of course I'd love to see it in a storefront or in a gallery someday, but ultimately I want it to belong to people who think it's really cool, really odd, or both.
Who would you like to inspire? I want to inspire anyone who feels drawn to making art but is afraid of doing it wrong. Grab some clay and make something, something that hasn't existed before, something that is entirely yours. It won't be bad, it will be great because you made it.
