The summer’s are like an immersive experience into hell, yes sure. There’s not as much green as other places, okay I got you. There is nowhere near as many opportunities to succeed in Phoenix than there is in other cities, agh then stay and let’s make those opportunities!
Phoenix has an incredibly large creative community that is social and vibrant. People who are dreaming to be filmmakers, musicians, writers, photographers, models, the list goes on. There are people hustling their own clothing brand, wearing it, selling it at markets, putting together the most intricate shoots. I mean there are literally advertisements for Phoenix-based brands and businesses that are 100 times better than the big budget sh*t we see coming out of LA or NYC—not a slight to those cities, they are absolutely amazing and great stuff comes out of both those cities and more. The reason I do bring up LA and NYC though, is that people tend to move there when it is time to get serious. Time to really make a name for themself. So it leads me to the question: is the only way for creative people in Phoenix to succeed is to leave Phoenix?
I really hope not. The world is so digitized now that, surely we can work from Phoenix and eventually bring our work here. Ändern was made to be a magazine of the world, showing diversity in the fashion and arts industries while touching on the culture around us. However, it would be remiss to completely ignore our roots in Phoenix, Arizona. We’ve had the privilege to work with some of the best creatives and professionals in Phoenix, while still holding a platform for people’s stories who live all around the world. We want the opportunity, just as much as you, to travel around the world and get a taste for different cultures, different work environments, be a part of the creativity. So, are you going to stay or are you going to go?
