The nature of these relationships are to draw publicity to both celebrities or one particular celeb, hence it being called a PR relationship. Back in the day, there were even PR relationships that moved to marriage in order to hide the sexuality of a star. It used to only be useful if the public truly believed the stunt, but if they were suspect, it was over. Nowadays, as long as it is drawing attention, it is doing its job. Mary Beth Barone recently revealed on Late night with Seth Meyers that her relationship with Lucas Bravo was all PR for her upcoming comedy special: Galaxy Brain. Whether she was joking or not, it really is not a surprise if Netflix truly orchestrated a PR relationship between Mary Beth, who is on Netflix, and Lucas Bravo, who was on the well-known Netflix show, Emily in Paris.
Sydney Sweeney & Glenn Powell
For the entirety of the Anyone But You film, Glenn Powell and Sydney Sweeney sparked major romance rumors. Despite both of them having partners at the time, the idea of an affair made it that much juicier for audiences. Months after press for the romantic-comedy, they both came out and said there was nothing romantic between them.
Zendaya & Jacob Elordi
The relationship between Zendaya and Jacob Elordi wasn’t exactly confirmed to be fake, but it seems pretty clear to us their relationship was purely PR. They were rumored to be together during the summer of 2019 until early 2020. The reason this is suspected to be fake is because season one of Euphoria literally launched at the exact same time they were rumored to start dating.

The pair first sparked dating rumors in August of 2025...the same month and year Kravitz’s movie with Austin Butler, Caught Stealing, came out. Eight months later, they sparked engagement rumors in April of 2026. A month after Harry Styles’ new album, and before the start of Harry Styles’ tour in May of 2026.
